Itanagar: Keeping in view the outbreak of pandemic Covid-19 in the country, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Monday directed the officers of Planning and Finance department to clear all files of the health department without any delay so that the department can carry out preventive measures in the State.
Chowna Mein, who also hold the Finance and Planning portfolio, convened an emergency meeting during the day with officials of health, planning and finance departments to take stock of the preparedness in containing the spread of corona virus in the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister in the meeting assured to provide all support to the Health department to carry out activities to contain coronavirus, an official communiqué informed.
Mein said that participation of every people in the district, community based measures and close monitoring of the situation in the State to mitigate the spread of coronovirus diseases for the next few days are very crucial.
He appealed to the people not to panic during the lockdown period and to follow the instruction of the state government on preventive measures to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
He informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also taken up lot of initiatives to contain the virus in India and the central government is closely monitoring the situation in every State.
Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang, who was also present in the meeting, informed that state government is taking every possible preventive measure to contain the spread of coronavirus.
“The doctors, nurses and all health workers are working round the clock to monitor the situation in the State,” he added.
Home Minister Bamang Felix informed that he is constantly monitoring the situation and assured to provide possible assistance to the Health department to create awareness among the masses regarding the seriousness of the virus.
The meeting also discussed mandatory screening and monitoring of people who come from outside the State and other parts of the country, setting up of isolation wards, medical volunteers, stock of essential commodities, testing centers, logistics and setting up of control rooms at the district and state level.
The meeting was attended among other by Principal Secretary (Finance) AC Verma, Commissioner (Planning) PS Lokhande, Finance Secretary YW Ringu, Planning Secretary Himanshu Gupta, Health Secretary P Parthiban, Director of Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRHIMS) Dr M Jini and state epidemiologist Dr L Jampa, the communiqué added.
