Covid-19: Arunachal logs highest single-day spike of 63 cases

Arunachal Pradesh on Friday reported 63 fresh cases, the highest single-day spike this month, pushing the total caseload to 65,151, a senior health official informed.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Friday reported 63 fresh cases, the highest single-day spike this month, pushing the total caseload to 65,151, a senior health official informed here. Earlier, the northeastern state recorded the highest spike of 56 cases on July 19 last. The toll remained unchanged at 296, with no new fatality recorded in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Arunachal Pradesh, which remained virus-free for the last couple of months, had been witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases since July 1, much like some other parts of the country, the SSO said. Among the new cases, 15 were reported from Namsai, 10 from the Capital Complex Region, followed by 9 in Lower Subansiri, Lohit (8), East Siang (5), Lower Dibang Valley (4), three each in Upper Subansiri, Longding and Anjaw and one each in West Siang, Lower Siang and Changlang district respectively, the official said.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 286 active cases, while 64,569 people recuperated thus far including, 39 on Thursday, he said. The recovery rate stands at 99.11 per cent, while the active ratio stood at 0.44 per cent, Dr Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region comprising, Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 69, followed by Namsai (44), Lohit (38), Lower Subansiri (23) and East Siang at 19 cases.

A total of 12,79,738 samples have been tested for Coronavirus in the state thus far, including 389 on Thursday, Jampa added.

So far over 17.76 lakh, people have been inoculated with Coronavirus vaccines in the state, State Immunisation Officer (SIO) Dr Dimong Padung informed.
