COVID-19: Arunachal Pradesh logs 266 fresh cases, three deaths

The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 34,480 with 266 more persons tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Saturday.

ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 34,480 with 266 more persons tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Saturday.

The death toll in the frontier state swells up to 165 with three more persons including a lady who succumbed to the infection in the past two days, he said.

A 47-year-old man from West Kameng, another person of 80 years age from Capital Complex Region and a lady (80) from Papumpare, died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital at Chimpu near here, in the past two days, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of fresh cases at 55, followed by West Kameng (41), Lohit (25), East Siang and Upper Subansiri at 17 each, Papumpare (14) and East Kameng at 11.

Ten each case were also reported from Kurung Kumey, Lower Dibang Valley and Lower Subansiri, nine each from West Siang and Changlang, six from Namsai, four each from Anjaw, Dibang Valley, Kamle, Longding, Pakke Kessang and Tirap, three from Lower Siang, two from Upper Siang and one each from Kra Daadi, Shi-Yomi and Leparada district respectively, he said.

Among the fresh cases, 250 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 9 through RT-PCR and 7 by TrueNat methods, the SSO said adding, 81 people are symptomatic.

The active cases in the land-locked state now stand stands at 2,523, he said.

As many as 305 patients were cured of the disease on Friday taking the total number of recoveries in the northeastern state to 31,792, Jampa said.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stands at 92.20 per cent while the active percentage stands at 7.32 and the positivity rate at 5.14 per cent, he said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 457, followed by West Kameng (277), Changlang (171), East Siang (167) and Lohit at 147 cases.

Altogether, 7,42,574 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 5,171 on Friday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 5,47,252 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January.
