COVID-19: Arunachal Pradesh logs 287 fresh cases, two deaths

ITANAGAR: Arunachal reported 287 fresh COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the total caseload in the northeastern State to 34,767, a senior health official said here on Sunday.

The death toll in the frontier state increased to 167, as two more persons including a lady, succumbed to the infection in the past two days, he said.

A 62-year-old woman from Namsai district died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Pasighat in East Siang district on Saturday due to Covid Pneumonia. She was suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Another person of 40 years of age from East Siang district succumbed to the infection on Friday at DCH Pasighat due to acute respiratory distress syndrome and COVID Pneumonia. He was suffering from hypertension, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of cases at 66, followed by Lohit (34), West Kameng (30), Changlang (29), East Siang (28) and Lower Subansiri at 18.

Nine each case were also reported from Papumpare and Upper Subansiri, eight from Lower Siang, six each from Siang, Namsai and Lower Dibang Valley, five from Kra Daadi, four each from Pakke Kessang, Longding, Kurung Kumey, East Kameng and Dibang Valley, three each from Leparada, Tawang, West Siang and Tirap and one from Kamle district, he said.

Among the fresh cases, 274 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 5 through RT-PCR and 8 by TrueNat methods, the SSO said adding, 104 people are symptomatic.

The active cases in the land-locked state now stand stands at 2,546, he said.

As many as 262 patients were cured of the disease on Saturday taking the total number of recoveries in the northeastern state to 32,054, Jampa said.
