ROING: Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner KN Damo on Tuesday chaired a meeting on District Task Force on Immunization (DTFI) for Routine Immunization (RI) and Covid-19 vaccination at the DC's conference hall, here.

Addressing the gathering, the DC advised the administrative officials to vaccinate the entire populace of the district reluctant to be vaccinated against COVID-19. He said that though few people were not willing to get vaccinated, it was the duty of the district administration to change their mindset and get them vaccinated.

He said that the vaccination was in the interest of the individuals as well as the entire community's health. The health department in particular should continue the work irrespective of people's opinions and ensure that no one was left out, he added.

"The Medical Officers (MOs) concerned should ensure that the health centres in the district are clean, well maintained and well organized to provide good healthcare to the public," he said, informing that the district administration would be giving 'Best Hospital (PHC & CHC) Award' in the district, taking into account all the parameters.

Meanwhile, Medical Officers present during the meeting also shared their experiences on house-to-house awareness visits. Some sections of people were scared of vaccination, some believed that the virus was not prevalent in the area and that the vaccine would make them sick. While some people were easy to be persuaded to get vaccinated, some were genuinely against getting vaccinated for their own reasons.
