ITANAGAR: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday announced that Arunachal Pradesh stands as the state with the best COVID-19 recovery rate in the country with nearly 99.56 recovery rate.

The Union Territories of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli have also attained a recovery rate of 99.88%.

Arunachal Pradesh adopted a slew of stringent measures to deal with the Covid pandemic. The state ensured strict measures to even check trucks bringing in essentials from other states.

There are many who believe that the difficult terrain turned into an advantage for the state as it naturally isolated the people living there.
"The terrain has been the main reason why we have been less affected. Even now about 700 people are getting tested. The rate is very good for a state with a population of 14-15 lakh," said Arunachal Pradesh health secretary P Parthiban. He added that the treatment protocol was followed even in the most remote districts to isolate cases in early stages. "It's not only the recovery rate, the death rate is also one of the lowest in the state," he said.

Although once the festive season started in October across other states, many started breaking Covid safety rules like compulsory wearing of Masks and practising social distancing. However, in Arunachal Pradesh, the screenings continued at about 11 entry points till about December last year.
