Covid recoveries surpass fresh cases in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Single-day recoveries continue to supersede fresh Covid-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh, with 88 more people were cured of the disease while, 66 tested positive for the infection in the past 24 hours, a health department official said on Wednesday.

The new cases have pushed the total caseload in the north-eastern State to 53,474, while 52,595 people have recovered from the disease thus far, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

The recovery rate among Covid patients improved marginally to 98.36 per cent from 98.31 per cent on the previous day.

The positivity rate currently stands at 1.99 per cent while the percentage of active cases stood at 1.14 respectively.

The death toll in the frontier State increased to 268 as a person from the Capital Complex Region succumbed to the infection on Monday.

The 53-year-old man died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Chimpu near here, due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid Pneumonia.

Arunachal Pradesh now has 611 active cases.

The Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 95, followed by Lower Subansiri (74), Changlang (52), West Kameng (48) and East Siang with 42 cases. As many as 10,80,325 samples have been tested for Covid-19 so far in the State, including 3,304 on Tuesday, added the SSO.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said a total of 10,09,669 people have been inoculated.
