Covid recovery rate improves in Arunachal

Single-day recoveries surpassed fresh COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh, as 404 more people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours while 226 new infections were reported, a Health Department official said on Friday.

ITANAGAR: Single-day recoveries surpassed fresh COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh, as 404 more people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours while 226 new infections were reported, a Health Department official said on Friday.

The fresh cases pushed the virus tally in the State to 63,119, he said.

The death toll increased to 291 after a woman succumbed to the infection at a health facility on Thursday, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The 50-year-old woman from Lohit district died due to upper GI bleeding with Covid Pneumonia, the official said.

As many as 60,632 people were cured from the infection thus far in the State.

The recovery rate among patients marginally improved to 96.06 from 95.76 per cent the previous day, the SSO said.

Among others the 226 new cases included 61 cases in the Capital Complex Region, 31 in Lower Subansiri, 23 in East Siang, 20 in Lohit, 16 in West Kameng and 13 in Tawang district.

Among the new cases, 181 were detected through rapid antigen test, 19 through RT-PCR process and 26 through TrueNAT methods, Jampa said, adding that 111 of them have developed COVID-19 symptoms.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 2,196 active cases.

The Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 757, followed by Lower Subansiri at 263, West Kameng (145), Papumpare (116) and East Siang (104).

A total of 12,44,945 samples have been tested for the infection in the State so far, including 1,998 on Thursday, Jampa said, adding that the positivity rate stood at 11.31 per cent.

State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung said 15,86,614 people have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines so far.

At least 52,414 beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years have been vaccinated and 17,866 senior citizens received the booster jab.
