ZIRO: The 2020-21 Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) of the Lower Subansiri district was approved and passed during a meeting of the District Planning Committee for Panchayati Raj (DPCPR) chaired by Deputy Commissioner in charge Nending Chatung on Wednesday.
The plans were earlier prepared through a “people’s plan campaign” and gram sabhas held across all the Gram Panchayat headquarters.
Chatung advised the members to ensure a comprehensive and participatory process involving the community, particularly in the Gram Sabhas in convergence with line departments to avoid overlapping of projects.
He said that the GPDP received from the member secretaries of various anchal blocks for final approval of the DPCPR has been proposed under the 14th Finance Commission Grants, the MGNREGA and schemes of all the line departments relating to 29 subjects listed in Schedule 11, as per Article 243 (G) of the Constitution.
He further advised the members to include innovative schemes that encompasses all the sectors and suffices the critical infrastructural gaps in all the gram segments. Community-based projects that could generate revenue should also be prioritized, he added.
Meanwhile, ADC JT Obi said that all the line departments should ensure mandatory participation in Gram Sabhas. “Streamlining Gram Sabhas will ensure effective plans void of any delicacies,” he added.
