Death Of Assam Teen Girl In Arunachal Pradesh Sparks Tension Along Inter-State Border

The girl was working as a domestic help in a household at Daporijo town in Arunachal Pradesh.

Itanagar: A 14-year-old girl from Assam has died under mysterious circumstances in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday. It is suspected that the girl has been murdered but it has not been confirmed.

The girl was reportedly working as a domestic help in a household at Daporijo town in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. However, the domestic help was informed to have died on Wednesday. According to the owner of the household in which she worked, the teenage girl from Assam had allegedly committed suicide. However, the locals of the town suspect foul play and claim that the girl has been murdered.

This has sparked tension in the district of Lakhimpur in Assam which is located along the Assam-Arunachal border. The tea tribe students have launched a protest and have warned of a possible economic blockade. They have termed the death as a case of murder and are demanding a probe into the matter.

One of the protesters said, "We want a proper investigation into the matter urgently. Her body was still not handed over to her family. We want both Assam and Arunachal Pradesh government to investigate the matter or we will block all entry points to Arunachal Pradesh."

As per reports, the domestic help was a resident of Ananda Bagan area of Lakhimpur district.
