Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu visits de-addiction centre at Jarkong village

PASIGHAT: East Siang district Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, accompanied by the DMO Dr Radesh Tatan, visited the Drugs De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre located at Jarkong village to review the working of the centre on Wednesday.

During his visit Tayi Taggu interacted with the addicts admitted for treatment at the rehabilitation centre and inquired about their health. He said that drugs addiction makes a person hollow from the inside and was a huge loss of money, time and body.

The DC also added that the drug addicts who want to get rid of this habit could reach out to this drug de-addiction centre where free medicines and other facilities were provided.

The de-addiction and rehabilitation centre was proving to be a boon for the addicted persons and everyone could return home after taking the appropriate medical treatment and medicines here.

The Deputy Commissioner informed the Medical Officer In-charge Dr Tani Siram and staffers on duty that the purpose of today's visit was to review the medical and other facilities being provided at the de-addiction centre.

He also inquired about the staff strength stationed at the centre and directed the authorities to ensure cleanliness in the de-addiction center to keep the environment healthy.

During his visit, Taggu also made a social appeal that in order to eradicate the social evil of drugs, all should work together and make people more aware of the ill effects of drugs and help those who have fallen into the trap of drugs for any reason.

DMO Dr Radesh Tatan informed that altogether ten addicts were admitted from the East Siang and neighbouring districts and they were given proper medicines and regular yoga and counseling for a better future ahead.
