ITANAGAR: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the satellite centre of IIM Shillong in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh.
On Monday 25 April, the Union skill development and entrepreneurship minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the state of the art IIM Shillong's Satellite Centre through an online conference.
The first of its kind satellite centre is an initiative for building the capacity of the state's administrative officers, important policy interventions and various management skills.
Notably, the satellite centre in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang is the first collaboration between IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Shillong and any northeastern state government.
The collaboration will make the IIM Shillong the think tank for the government of Arunachal Pradesh by operating in different sectors such as health, education and tourism.
Earlier the Arunachal Pradesh government, IIM Shillong and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for the satellite centre.
The education minister said that building of capacity administrative officers will result in a successful government which is the main aim of the government.
During the virtual programme with the presence of CM Pema Khandu, Pradhan regarding the occasion as historic congratulated the state government and IIM Shillong.
According to Pradhan, in the future, this initiative will become the centre of learning and acquiring new skills which ultimately turn job seekers into job givers.
As per the official release, the inaugural ceremony of the satellite centre is a big step towards public delivery and professionalism in governance.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu during the programme said that centre will function from a temporary setup in Tawang for now but in the coming days, a permanent building and campus will be introduced.
