Disaster management programme held in Arunachal Pradesh

The Department of Disaster Management under the Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav conducted a one-day training-cum-orientation program on the basics of disaster management.

Longding: The Department of Disaster Management under the Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav conducted a one-day training-cum-orientation program on the basics of disaster management, medical first aids to help injured affected by disaster and fire safety for villagers of Pumao circles at Multi-purpose community hall near here today.

Addressing the gathering, DIPRO Nyatum Doke DIPRO highlighted landslide and their preventive measures and cautioned people from taking up unsustainable earth cutting. He requested people to stay "aware, aware and alert" to prevent disaster.

Dr Hannah Lukham detailed the medical first Aids in relation to various disasters like landslides, fires, earthquakes, floods etc.

Earlier, raincoats and first aid kits boxes for all participants along with leaflets and pamphlets on different types of disasters like fire, earthquake, flood, landslides etc., were distributed too among all participants during the program.

Later Fire & Emergency service department personnel of Longding district demonstrated how to use a fire extinguisher and to douse off gas cylinder fire.

The program was attended by resource persons from Health and Fire and Emergency Service departments, PRI members, Gaon Buras and the general public.
