ITANAGAR: On Monday, The first flight takes off from Itanagar to Mumbai from the Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar. Sources claim that Flights from two Northeastern states to Myanmar and Bangladesh will soon begin, said Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday as he flagged off the first flight from Dony Polo Airport, the first Greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh.
He claimed that the administration is attempting to improve aviation connectivity in the Northeast. In order to improve international aviation connection in the area, flights will shortly begin from Imphal to Mandalay and Agartala to Chittagong.
According to Scindia, the Northeast now has better air connectivity, and more flights will be run to connect it to other locations. Earlier, the Prime Minister also spoke to the crowd at the Dony Polo Airport opening. He recalled his previous visits to Arunachal, emphasised the scope of today's programme, and praised the Arunachal people for their commitment to the development of their state. He also appreciated the Arunachali people's upbeat yet disciplined traits.
The Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar and the 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station were both opened by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. In February 2019, the Prime Minister himself formally laid the groundwork for this airport. Despite difficulties caused by the pandemic in the interim, work on the airport was finished in a short amount of time.
The Prime Minister addressed the crowd, recalled his previous travels to Arunachal, highlighted the size of today's programme, and complimented the dedication of the Arunachal people to the advancement of their state. The Prime Minister talked about how the workplace culture has transformed and how he has started a custom of personally dedicating himself to the project and laying the cornerstone.
The Northeast region experienced neglect and indifference throughout the years following independence and it was Atal Bihari Vajpayee's administration that gave the region attention and established a distinct ministry for the Northeast. Later, this forward impetus slowed down, however in 2014, a new phase of development started. In the past, remote border villages were treated as the country's final settlement. "Our government operated by treating border villages as the nation's first settlement. As a result, the government has prioritised the development of the Northeast. "North East gets top priority, whether it's in tourism or trade, communications or textiles," the Prime Minister stated.
