ITANAGAR: Tirap police arrested a drug peddler from Helipad Colony at Khonsa, the district headquarters, and recovered heroin from his possession, a senior police official informed The peddler was arrested on Friday evening, he said. A police team, after receiving information from a reliable source pertaining to the peddling and possession of narcotic drugs at around 9 p.m., swung into action and raided the suspect’s house at Helipad Colony, Tirap superintendent of police (SP) Rahul Gupta said. During the raid, which was conducted in the presence of town magistrate Dr. Ripi Doni, the team recovered heroin packed inside a green plastic soap case weighing around 10.71 grams from the possession of one Wangtoh Wangsu (44), a resident of Mintong village in Longding district, the SP said.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against Wangsu at Khonsa police station, and the case has been endorsed to sub-inspector S Tapak for investigation. Meanwhile, Gupta has said that police have received information about two drug peddlers on the drug helpline numbers (9436046055 SP Tirap), and both have been converted into successful raids with arrests.
