Drug peddler arrested in Arunachal Pradesh

West Siang district police in Arunachal Pradesh arrested a drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession, police said on Monday.

ITANAGAR: West Siang district police in Arunachal Pradesh arrested a drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession, police said on Monday. A police team led by Aalo police station officer in-charge Duto Bagra arrested drug peddler Horda Jini from the Piyi area on Friday, West Siang superintendent of police (SP) Abhimanyu Poswal said. Police seized heroin weighing 8.5 grams worth Rs 70,000 and Rs 2.5 lakhs, two mobile handsets, empty soap cases, and empty plastic tobacco containers from his possession, the SP said. A case under Section 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused, he said. Poswal informed that the interrogation of the accused is on for information that may help curb the drug menace in the district. Advising youths to ‘say no to drugs’, he reiterated the police’s pledge against ‘zero tolerance of drugs in the district.
