ITANAGAR: The East Siang health department has increased the number of oxygen beds to 48 including four in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Of these, 40 have a medical graded copper pipeline oxygen supply system with six jumbo oxygen cylinders connected to 45 litres MOSS, Joint DHS (T&R) of BakinPertin General Hospital Dukhum Raina said.

He added that the Dedicated Covid Hospital at Pasighat is now continuously supplying oxygen to Covid-19 patients requiring oxygen treatment.

The DCH was established in NEIFM (AYUSH building) during last year's pandemic with 37 beds out of which four were oxygen beds and four ICU beds with a temporary pipeline oxygen supply system.

Expressing happiness over the development, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Kinny Singh said the Central and state government are strenuously working towards controlling the ground situation and delivering the best medical services in this hour of Covid-19 pandemic crisis.

"The health system had initially faced massive pressure but the situation was soon brought under control. This pandemic has also affected the healthy people this time and therefore citizens should step forward and strengthen the efforts being made by the government," she said, calling for a united effort in combating Covid-19.
