Itanagar: Police in East Siang district apprehended two alleged drug peddlers from a village along the inter-State border with neighbouring Assam, police said.
Acting on information that some boys suspected to be drug peddlers gathered in a hut at Ruksin village, a team of Ruksin Police led by Abraham Taying, OC Ruksin police station, raided the hut along with EAC Tatling Pertin and other police personnel on Monday.
During the surprise raid, the two persons identified as Bharat Dalbong of Ngorlung village and Viswajit Madhesia of Nepali Basti (Jonai) were nabbed, the police said here on Tuesday.
Two packets of suspected heroin, one heroin studded coin, one rolled Rs 10 note for inhaling drug and cash amount of Rs 11,300 were seized from their possession.
Dalbong was earlier arrested in connection with a drug case. He was recently released on bail.
A case has been registered and investigation is on.
The whole operation was carried out under close monitoring of East Siang SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, who while lauding the police team said that all drug peddlers & abusers would be dealt with sternly.
