Itanagar: With the objective to boost the education system in Arunachal Pradesh in line with the Cabinet decision of June 2 last and to come up with a road map, the Arunachal Pradesh Educational Advisory Council has mooted ideas on how to formulate the State Educational Policy in accordance with the National Education Policy to deal with the present time needs and aspirations of the state.
The ‘progress’ was made during the first State Educational Advisory Council meeting held here recently, an official communiqué informed here on Friday. The crucial meeting was chaired by Secretary Education Dr Madhu Rani Teotia
The meeting discussed threadbare with inputs from different participants, including scholars, directors among others on ‘how to frame the State Educational Policy in consonance with the National Education Policy to cope up with the present time needs and aspirations keeping in mind the future generation of the State’.
During the meeting, it was decided to constitute an expert committee to draft new State Education Policy. In this regard, the top educational institutions of the state namely Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) and NIT have been requested to nominate experienced academicians in the committee.
Accordingly, each and every member of State Educational Advisory Council (SEAC) present gave their inputs with detailed deliberations.
The SEAC members had thorough discussion on ‘Draft New National Education Policy (NEP) 2019’ and it was decided that the State Education Policy will have it as base with modification, as per requirements of the state.
Several aspects were specifically discussed, which included policy making, regulatory, governance, academic, standards setting & accreditation and technology- suggestions/comments of the state governmenton draft new NEP (2019) sent to union HRD ministry.
The meeting unanimously decided that there would be regular meetings of SEAC for the purpose of aid and advising the state government on the matters pertaining to educational policies & programmes, the communiqué added.
