Event organized to celebrate the success of PM SVANidhi scheme in Itanagar

Itanagar: A large number of visitors from all sections of the society on Friday thronged the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre in Arunachal Pradesh capital; to attend the daylong SVANidhi Mahotsav organized to celebrate the success of the PM SVANidhi Scheme.

The Union Housing and Urban Affairs ministry had chosen 75 cities across India, including Itanagar, to celebrate the success of the PM SVANidhi Scheme.

The event, organised by Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh State Urban Livelihood Mission (ArSULM), was inaugurated by state Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra.

Pointing out that vendors should work for socio-economic values, the governor in his address advised them to contribute to the development of society by playing a proactive role in keeping their counters to attract more customers.

"Popularize SVANidhi scheme for maximum people to avail," he advised the IMC officials and suggested connecting them with other schemes like PM Suraksha Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Jan Dhan Joyana, One Nation One Ration Card, Janani Suraksha Yojana and Shram Mandhan Yojana and monitor and assist them regularly.

The governor along with IMC mayor Tame Phassang felicitated the five best street vendors of Itanagar, Naharlagun and Nirjuli and gave away certificates and cash awards for their maximum digital transactions.

100 best vendors were also awarded certificates for timely repayment of SVANidhi loans.

Phassang and IMC commissioner Likha Tejji earlier highlighted the achievement and challenges of the PM SVANidhi scheme.

"This is a platform to promote street vendors and shelf-help groups (SHGs) to earn a decent livelihood," Teji informed.

Ten each street vendors and SHGs, three financial institutions, and one medical and information centre were part of the exhibition where an online registration facility was offered. Those vendors who have availed of Rs 10,000 or above loan were eligible for the event, Teji added.
