Everester, NGO nominated for Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet award

ITANAGAR: An Everester and an NGO from the Arunachal Pradesh have been nominated for the fourth edition of Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet Award-2021, to be conferred on May 12 next at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Everester Tagit Sorang has been nominated in the sports section while NGO 'The Green Squad Team', has been nominated in the social section.

Sorang, who reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 31 last year, became the youngest Everester from the State, was nominated with the motto - "say no to plastic". He is also the first Indian to join NIMAS & IMF winter trekking-2021 at Dirang in the West Kameng district, with the motto "say no to drugs, save life" especially for youths of the State.

The Green Squad Team is working for the betterment of humanity and environment with the motto 'zero waste mother earth. It is taking an initiative to make recycling easy to adopt by common people by their magic bag initiative and converting normal lifestyle to zero waste lifestyle, where there is no littering and open burning of waste.

The Northeast Unsung Heroes Social Awards started the journey in Nagaland, followed by Sikkim in 2018 and Mumbai in 2019, presented by the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh.

The fourth edition of the award is all set to host by Find Studoz, where around 32 unsung heroes of eight States of the region would be recognized for their silent contribution to the society.

The aim of the event is to not only recognize the silent contribution to the society in the field of 'social' but also would help many others including people to rise further from different walks of life, said Rebecca Changkija Sema, founder of the award.
