Expedition to find alternative road to Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

ITANAGAR: A team consisting of Lower Subansiri district forest officials and leaders of Mai Village under Yachuli circle undertook a trekking expedition to find an alternative road to reach the beautiful Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.The team led by Upper Subansiri district forest officer Abhinav Kumar, Yachuli range forest officer Likha Obi and Mai Welfare Society chairman Dr Hatobin Mai explored the bio-diversity hotspot on Saturday, starting the daylong trek from Mai Village. MWS chairman Dr Mai said, "There is a traditional road from the Mai village to reach the Talley Village, but the people know only about the one in Ziro. With the opening of the alternative road from Mai village, the nature lovers will be able to explore and appreciate the beautiful landscape, flora and fauna of the area which has been hidden from the outside world so far."DFO Kumar, when informed by the villagers about the hunting of Mithuns by the wild dogs, assured help from the department to tackle the menace. The team also saw the footprints of various wild animals including the endangered species, during the daylong trip.
