Itanagar: Progressive farmer from Arunachal Pradesh Likha Maj on Thursday called upon investors to invest in the State while highlighting the investment potential of the Himalayan State in the ongoing mega North East Food Show at Polo Ground, Shillong.
Participating in a panel discussion in the event, Likha Maj while pointing out the food processing opportunities in his State informed that the Centre had sanctioned a mega food park in Arunachal which is going to be establish near Banderdewa in Papum Pare district.
"The project was sanctioned after persistent efforts by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Minister of State for Sports & Youth Affairs (Independent) Kiren Rijiju and Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal East Parliamentary Constituency Tapir Gao," Maj said.
The food park will be spread in an area of around 75 acres and there are provisions of accommodating more than 30 industries of different varieties, he said.
"All facilities and provisions will be there to support the industries linkages, including transportation facilities and communication, running water and power supply besides IT facility to the investors," Maj added.
He informed that there are lots of opportunities as the State is rich in flora and fauna and land available for cultivation of agri, horti and allied produces. He further appealed to the investors to come forward and join hands in making successful the mega food park which would require thousands of tonnes of raw materials monthly.
Horticulture Joint Director Narang Kani spoke on the opportunities and facilities and support by the State Government to the farmers and cultivation of different products in the State and its utilization.
Deputy Director Industries Goli Angu highlighted the opportunities in food processing industries in the State saying that the government has been preparing the new industrial policy with many incentives to the investors.
The North East Food Show was inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma while Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu will attend the festival on Friday to boost the morale of the participants.
