Felix bats for environmental conservation amid global warming concerns

Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix on Friday emphasised on the need to conserve forests, water bodies and wildlife in the face of global warming concerns and called upon the panchayat leaders of the state to inspire, motivate and promote environmental conservation initiatives among the rural masses.

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix on Friday emphasised on the need to conserve forests, water bodies and wildlife in the face of global warming concerns and called upon the panchayat leaders of the state to inspire, motivate and promote environmental conservation initiatives among the rural masses. Flagging off an ambulance and a garbage lifting truck for 1-Borum Zilla Parishad segment in Naharlagun, near here, the minister underscored the role of panchayat leaders in transforming rural economy and society into a progressive one, especially after devolution of power and functions to them.

Felix suggested the panchayat leaders to invest in creating innovative assets for the state. He also appreciated the efforts of Borum panchayat leaders towards converting Borum into a model village, for which he assured his assistance.

Felix lauded 1-Borum Zilla Parishad Member Tok Tama for successfully undertaking the initiative for procuring the ambulance and the garbage lifting truck and appealed to the people of the segment to cooperate in maintaining the assets created for them. The ambulance was procured by 1-Borum Zilla Parishad Segment panchayat leaders on a self-help basis, while the garbage lifting truck got donated by the SMS Smelter Pvt Ltd, Lekhi.

In response to the six-point memorandum submitted earlier by the ZPM, Felix assured for pursuing with the authorities for installation of CCTV cameras in the vital locations of 1-Borum Zilla Parishad Segment and upgrading Nirjuli Health and Wellness Centre into a Primary Health Centre.

Itanagar MLA Kaso, Papum Pare ZPC Chukhu Bablu, 1-Borum ZPM Tama also spoke during the event, which was participated by a host of dignitaries from various departments.
