ITANAGAR: In a simple but impressive ceremony, Mayor of IMC (Itanagar Municipal Corporation) Tame Phassang laid the foundation stone for new Boy's Hostel for Don Bosco College at Jullang here recently.
The event was organized by strictly maintaining the COVID-19 protocols.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Tame Phassang assured the college authority that the Itanagar Municipal Corporation will extend all possible assistance to ensure that the institution can render its services to the people of the State and the nation. He also appreciated the efforts of the college authority for taking the initiative of constructing an additional hostel with their own expenses.
Dwelling on various developmental programmes being undertaken in the State capital area in particular and the State in general, the Mayor stated that the State government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu is committed to serving the people of the State.
He pointed out, "We are focusing on improving road connectivity, water facilities, sanitation, improvement of drainage system & developing proper infrastructure," and added that several projects being planned in entire ICR will be carried out soon.
On the urgent need to tackle drug menace in the society, the Mayor said, "The menace of drug addiction is a serious problem. Many people, especially the youths have already been addicted. We must all join hands to rid the society of this addiction. Therefore, I urge the young students and youths to say 'No to drugs'. They need to do this so that they can carry on their studies dedicatedly."
Among the dignitaries who attended the function were the Chairperson of CPM-Jollang Tana Taha Tara; DBC Director, Itanagar Father Jose Chemparathy and other members of the college and IMC.
