A CORRESPONDENT
ITANAGAR: All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) president Dozi Tana Tara on Friday informed that Governor BD Mishra has assured the complete overhauling of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) members.
Subsequently, he also informed that the 12 hours of joint bandh call by AAPSU and All Nysihi Students Union (ANSU) will be discussed among the members and accordingly will be informed to the public if it will continue or discontinue.
Speaking to the reporters, Dozi Tana Tara said that the public is aware that the commission is an autonomous body and hence every final approval goes through the Governor. Therefore, the team met the Governor about the matter and appraised the grievances of the aspirants.
He said among the four members of the commission, Major General (Retd) Ganesh Singh Bisht and Major General (Retd) Jarken Gamlin have resigned. However, the union demands that the rest members should also resign or be terminated.
"As two members have already resigned, the Governor is in wait for the rest of the two members for their response. Moreover, we have received a positive response from the Governor on the overhauling of the commission," he said.
Also, the demand of the unions for complete updates on the SIC investigation into the paper leakage matter has also been addressed, which is a positive response by the State government in favour of the aspirants.
He said Jerang should not only be the prime objective of the investigation by SIC. Rather, it should investigate to the highest official level and accordingly punish every single official involved in the corruption prevailing in the commission.
"The bandh call is the ultimate and last resort of the union when the state government fails to address the grievances of the student community. Moreover, we as a union also don't want such a resort in any form by hurting business communities," he added.
He also appealed to the student community to believe in AAPSU and ANSU as until positive results into the matter are being served, the union continues its fight to deliver justice to the aspirants.
Earlier today, members from AAPSU and the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) called on Governor to discuss the matter related to their demands in regard to the APPSC (AE-Civil) examination paper leakage.
