NAMSAI: The Namsai Police have arrested a 21-year-old habitual offender for breaking into a house and decamping with various valuables items from different locations of the Namsai area. He was arrested on Wednesday. Speaking to the media, Inspector Tashi Yangi informed that "the police have received numerous reports about the burglary from different persons.

"On receipt of complaints from Piyong Circle Officer on June 28 about a burglary in her residence, we activated the police. While investigating police team led by Lady Sub-inspector N.K. Khen recovered a T-shirt that worked as a key lead for us.

"Following inputs and continuing investigation from the police team, we have arrested one person.

"The arrested person has been identified as Chow Abo Manlai (21) of Wingko Village under Piyong Circle in Namsai district. A case No. 41/2021 U/S 475/380 IPC has been registered against him.

Police have recovered six batteries, three bicycles, four LPG cylinders, a monitor, two inverters, three TVs, two motor pumps and other items, informed the Inspector. As of now, the Police have arrested five people in connection with the same case.

"The increasing cases of burglary are probably due to our effective action against drugs menace in the Namsai district. Such habitual offenders and drugs peddlers must have nexus to divert our attention," added Police Officer Tashi Yangi while appealing to the people to install CCTV (Close Circuit Television) in their respective residences, shops and other places to keep records of such incidents."
