NAHARLAGUN: "Helping each other in distress is the real concept of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," said Mayor of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), Tame Phassang while expressing concern over the devastation triggered by the flash flood in twin capital on the wee hours of Monday.

Addressing the gathering at the launching programme of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign at Ward no.17, Mayor opined that the real concept of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was unity and supporting each other in the time of distress. "So, I appeal to everyone to come forward and extend all possible support in cash or kind to the victims of the flash flood," said Phassang.

The Mayor also appealed to the Chief Minister and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to call a special meeting to extend help to the victims of the flash flood. He also said that the relief amount given by government was very less and would not be sufficient. "The authorities should take some important measures to help the victims. Moreover, I will also visit the places to know the ground reality and will extend all possible support," he said.

Earlier, launching the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, the Mayor urged denizens to hoist the National Flag in their houses by following the flag code.
