Improve security scene in eastern Arunachal: Governor to CM Pema Khandu

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr B.D. Mishra has expressed his concern about the law-and-order situation in the eastern part of the State, and urged the State government to initiate more developmental activities in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts.

During a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu who, called on him at the Raj Bhawan here on Thursday, the Governor called for checking the overground nefarious activities against the people of the three districts.

They also discussed about the State's security as well as law and order among other issues.

Referring to his recent meeting with Judge of Itanagar Permanent Bench of Gauhati Hight Court Justice Nani Tagia, Dr Mishra advised Khandu to look into the matters of duplicity in regulations and the ambiguity created in the administration of justice by such regulations.

He also said that the State government can obtain expert legal opinion in order to eliminate such ambiguities in the administration of justice.

The Governor asked the Chief Minister to also ensure that the State government extends full support to the Arunachal Public Service Commission (APPSC) so that the forthcoming Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive (APPSCC) mains examination can be conducted flawlessly.

They also discussed ways to ensure that there is no shortage of basic commodities in the remote places. Air carriage was found to be an ideal way in this regard. They further discussed innovative ways to counter the Coronavirus pandemic.

Appreciating the Chief Minister for his initiatives in cluster farming and nutritional kitchen garden schemes to lessen the dependence of the people on other States for vegetables and livestock, the Governor suggested that steps can be taken to promote botanical and herbal gardens in the State, informed a Raj Bhawan communiqué here.
