ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh has achieved a remarkable milestone with the introduction of the direct flight service from Donyi Polo Airport at Hollongi, near here, to New Delhi. The flight service began on Monday.

The direct flight service to Delhi by IndiGo Airlines, one of the fastest-growing low-cost carriers, is a testament to the growing importance being accorded by the Centre providing ease of connectivity to the frontier state. State’s Civil Aviation Minister Nakap Nalo, who launched the direct flight service from Donyi Polo Airport, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for advancing air connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh to ensure ease of travel.

“With the continuous efforts of CM Pema Khandu and blessings of PM Narendra Modi for advancing air connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh to ensure ease of travel, today happy to kick off first direct flight from Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar to Delhi,” the Civil Aviation Minister said in X, formerly twitter.

From now onwards, people can have hassle-free travel from Itanagar to Delhi and vice versa, stated Nalo, who was joined by Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia, Hayuliang MLA Dassanglu Pul, Itanagar Mayor Tamme Phassang, Secretary (Civil Aviation) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials. Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that ever since the inauguration of Donyi Polo Airport by PM Narendra Modi in November last year, the distance of Delhi and other parts of the country from Itanagar has been cut short.
