PANGIN: The Appun Self Help Group (ASHG) — a seven-member women group of Kebang (Sole) village under Kebang circle of Siang district — has distributed blanket, carpet and edible items to the needy during this pandemic time, on Tuesday.
Altogether 44 persons including the old-aged and specially-abled, widows, widowers, pregnant women and breast-feeding mothers of Kebang Village were benefitted. The ASHG functions under the guidance of 'Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission' (ASRLM), Department of Rural Development.
An active member of ASHG, Oni Ering said, "We are indebted to ASRLM for granting us some amount and encouraging us from time to time."
Apart from doing livelihood activities like growing nursery, selling vegetables, clothes and household items, the ASHG members also involve themselves in cleanliness drives, attend gram sabha meetings and extend a helping hand to fellow villagers, who are in crisis during the time of farming. The organization was given the title of 'Best SHG of Pangin Block' during the programme entitled 'Siang Ane Gidum' at Yingkiong in 2018.
