Longding police recovered stolen money after week-long raids

The Longding district police, after week-long raids, has finally recovered Rs 17 lakh which was stolen from the office of the Wancho Baptist Church Association

LONGDING: The Longding district police, after week-long raids, has finally recovered Rs 17 lakh which was stolen from the office of the Wancho Baptist Church Association (WBCA).

The police arrested Khonak Wangpan (30) and Phelam Wangpan (25) in this connection. Khonak served as the clerk at WBCA, while Phelam is working in a canteen at the district SBI office and both belong to the Mintong village.

Earlier, a police team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Chamrak Arun, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Vikram Hari Mohan Meena, after conducting multiple raids at different locations recovered the money which was stolen on May 16 last.

The money was seized in presence of Executive Magistrate Gyamar Amte.
