Itanagar: Janata Dal-Secular candidate from Arunachal West parliamentary constituency Jarjum Ete has said that the contested candidates who have lost elections might have missed the opportunity to be elected as people’s representatives, but not their leadership.

Ete, who was the general secretary of All India Mahila Congress, had resigned from the party after denial of party ticket.

Ete, the lone woman candidate, came third in the constituency with 43,919 votes against Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki who came first and second respectively out of total seven candidates in the fray. A prominent woman activist, though could not win, said that the contested candidates and their supporters ought to rededicate themselves to be with the people.

“I am sure all those leaders will also feel the same,” she said, adding that she was personally touched by the love and support of the people for which she conveyed her deep sense of appreciation.

“I shall continue to do my bit and need your good wishes and support too,” she said and congratulated all winners and wish them a successful term in greater interest of Arunachal Pradesh people.
