ROING: The Lower Dibang Valley District Administration decided to celebrate 75th Independence Day (I-Day) adhering to COVID appropriate behaviour and without public gathering.

The decision was made during a meeting called by Deputy Commissioner K. N. Damo to discuss the celebration of Independence Day.

The meeting was attended by SP J. K. Lego, Administrative Officers, heads of departments, public leaders and principals of educational institutions.

It was decided that the celebration would be simple, without public gathering and with social distancing and COVID appropriate behaviour will be followed.

Speaking on the occasion, DC K. N. Damo informed the gathering about the COVID-19 status of the district and appreciated the efforts put in by all to bring down the COVID-19 positive numbers and positivity rate. He stated that maintenance of SoP is the only way to keep lockdown at bay.

The Roing town area is especially vulnerable as the virus is still around and so we still need to strictly follow the night curfew hours, social distancing and masking and need to get all eligible people vaccinated at the earliest, he added.

The DC also spoke on the drug menace and said that it can destroy families and is a great challenge to root it out of society. He cautioned all government servants against its use.
