Itanagar: Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra said that the gallantry of the Indian soldiers and strong apex political leadership has proved the mettle of the country’s armed forces in international security scenario.
Interacting with the personnel of 20 Madras Regiment at Chowkham in Namsai district during a sainik sanmelan on Friday, the Governor said asked them to imbibe the “Nation First” spirit.
“Bravery, discipline and camaraderie of the Madras Regiment has always been exemplary and emulative,” the Governor said.
Reminding the officers and troops of the Motto of Madras Regiment – ‘Swadharme Nidhanam Shreyaha (It is a glory to die doing one’s duty), Dr Mishra said that physical fitness, training and operational management of the regiment have been one of the best attributes amongst all the regiments of the Indian Army.
He exhorted the troops to maintain the combat spirit and rise to ensure the best defence of the state borders, a Raj Bhawan communique informed here on Saturday.
The Governor urged the troops to strengthen the bonhomie with the local population.
General Officer Commanding of 2 Mountain Division Major General Sanjeev Chauhan, Commander of 82 Mountain Brigade Brigadier Sajeev Kataria and CO of 20 Madras Regiment Col PA Parthasaradi Pathrudu were present during the governor’s visit, the communique added.
