Meet on innovative tech for value addition in local resources organized at Tippi Village

TEZPUR: Defence Research Laboratory (DRL), DRDO, Tezpur organised a Workshop on "Use of Innovative Technology for Value addition in Local Resources" at Tippi Village, Bhalukpong in Arunachal Pradesh on February 13.

The purpose of the workshop was to impart skill development and training on 'Banana Fiber Generation' to the Tippi Villagers located in Bhalukpong, West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh. The programme was aimed at enabling the farmers of the village to generate income and enhance livelihood by selling banana fibers and handicraft items made out of it.

Dr Sanjai K.Dwivedi, Director, DRL, Tezpur highlighted the importance of skill development of farmers and use of innovative technologies for value addition in local resources and to generate income. Chairperson of Tippi Village Lakhuman Sekang and various State officials of Bhalukpong delivered the lectures on the importance of skill development of farmers for enhancing their livelihood.

Demonstration and training on Banana Fiber Generation, Oyster Mushroom cultivation and Vermi Composting were given to 65 farmers of the Village present in the workshop. Various other products of DRL were also exhibited during the Workshop. For producing quality banana fibers, using fiber extractor machine, awards were distributed to farmers. Valuable suggestions and feedback delivered by farmers were also deliberated in the Workshop.
