Minister Kiren Rijiju reviews progress of vital roads in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju has recently chaired a meeting with officials of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), headed by its CMD Chanchal Kumar, to review the progress of ongoing highway projects in Arunachal Pradesh.

Kiren Rijiju, who represents Arunachal West Parliamentary seat, reviewed as many as eight vital projects being implemented in the state, an official communiqué informed here. Works on as many as 20 projects are going on and out of which, five projects have attained more than 95 per cent progress and another five are nearing 90 per cent of completion. Among the ongoing projects, 13 will have Commercial Operations Date (CoD) in the current year, while the remaining projects will achieve completion mostly in the first half of 2024, the communiqué said.

Among the ongoing projects, in the Hayuliang-Hawai Road project, there are two packages of which one is expected to be completed by May next and the other by March next year. Another important project, construction of a two-lane road (58 Km) from Roing-Hunli, the green field alignment is expected to be completed by March next year. Moreover, construction of two major bridges along the existing Hunli-Anini road (package 1) would be completed by December this year.

Two-laning of existing Akajan- Likabali-Bame Road (32.81 kms) is expected to be completed by July this year while, the two-lane road from Joram to Koloriang, total in six packages, are expected to be completed by November this year, the communiqué informed.

Construction of two-lane Arrowa-Khupa-Hayuliang road (23.083 Kms) on NH-113 is expected to be completed by May next year while, construction of two-lane Demwe-Brahmakund road on NH-13 is expected to be completed by March next year. Four high altitude hill roads - Ladda to Basai in East Kameng district ( 32.26 Km), Doginala to Gau (15.32 Kms) in Upper Subansiri district, Tadadege to Henker (28.5 Kms) in Shi Yomi district and Dembuen to Bruni (36.3 Kms) are expected to be completed by early part of next year, the communiqué added.

Rijiju also requested the NHIDCL to undertake the road from Mebo-Geko in Arunachal Pradesh to Gerukamukh in Assam on priority. The meeting was held as part of the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh and promote connectivity in the region. Rijiju added that he is committed to ensuring timely completion of all the ongoing projects in the state and to providing high-quality infrastructure to the people of the north-eastern state.
