NABARD launches PLP 2023-24 for Arunachal Pradesh district

ITANAGAR: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) launched the Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) 2023–24 for the Lower Dibang Valley district in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

The launching was done by Lower Dibang Valley DC. Soumya Saurabh, in the presence of all the bankers of the district and departmental heads, held at Roing, the district headquarters. NABARD DDM Nitya Mili, who was also present during the launching programme, informed that the bank prepares PLPs for each district of the country every year with a view to facilitating the flow of institutional credit to priority sector activities, including crop loans and term loans for agriculture and allied activities. “In such an annual exercise, NABARD carries out a detailed exercise for mapping the credit potential that is expected to stimulate balance growth of all the sectors of the economy of a district. The PLP projections serve as a basis for banks in preparing annual credit plans,” he said.

The potential for credit flow to agriculture sector including crop loan has been estimated to the tune of Rs 2300 lakh for the district, a press release informed. Meanwhile, the NABARD sponsored skill development programme on sewing machine operator for 30 unemployed rural youth and self help groups, was also launched at Longding district during the day. The programme would be implemented by Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT) in collaboration with Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).

Longding ADC Mirpe Tato in his address emphasised on the development of indigenous craft and creating market linkages with price competitiveness, quality up gradation to penetrate existing markets. NABARD DDM Kamal Roy highlighted the scope and importance of SDP that would enhance the socio-economic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs.

He said that the SDPs are on-location training programmes with the objectives to provide a wide range of skill development training to rural youth with job opportunities, identification and promote existing business models for increased rural employment to benefit aspiring rural entrepreneurs, improve income level and livelihoods and also to contribute to the economy by setting up of rural enterprises.
