NEIFM organizes sensitization programme for traditional healers

PASIGHAT: The North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicines (NEIFM) organized a sensitization programme for traditional healers of East Siang District at Engon Takar hall near here on Friday.

NEIFM is an autonomous national institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

While Medical Officer NEIFM Dr Imlikumba spoke about certification of traditional healers, Director of NEIFM Dr Rabindra Tero highlighted the mandate of the institute.

He also urged the participants to share their folk healing knowledge for scientific validation.

Zoologist Dr Kenjum Bagra also spoke about the different dimensions of the folk healing practice and highlighted the Intellectual Property Right (IPR). Meanwhile, Botanist Dr Amal Bawri dwelt into the aspect of plant use and their cultivation practice.

He also urged the participants to the cultivation of medicinal plants.
