Itanagar: Newly-elected Janata Dal United (JDU) MLA from Raga Assembly constituency in Kamle district will pursue the Defence Ministry to work out modalities to protect the people from the serious threat possessed by the firing range at Dollungmukh.

The firing range of the Indian Air Force is a serious threat to the people living in the area as there are cases of bombs being dropped beyond the range killing people.

“Dealing with this problem by perusing the Defence Ministry through the State Government will be my top priority,” Dakpe said. Dakpe is right as the firing range jeopardise 3,000 local denizens, spoil the local environment and damage government school buildings which fails to function due to fear. The IAF had dropped two high grade bombs on June 10 last year in Dollungmukh which exploded near a local house. Its occupant was injured and a 20-ft wide and 7-feet deep crater created.

“I have joined politics to complete development works of the constituency which could not be completed while serving in the government as director and Deputy Commissioner,” Dakpe said over telephone. “The people of Kamle district have reposed their faith to elect me and it is now my responsibility to fulfil their aspirations. Though there are huge challenges, but road communication, education and health sectors will be my priority agenda,” he said.

“I want to improve the present communication problem, change the education scenario and improve the health sector of the district. I wish to bring health services to the doorsteps of the poor people”, he added. The NPP is an ally of NEDA, but the party will discuss on post-poll alliance with the BJP in State, he added.
