ITANAGAR: A rebel of the Isaac Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) surrendered before security forces in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said.

Thaisi Raomai, the self-styled private of the outfit surrendered in front of 6th Assam Rifles and district police in Tirap district, along with a pistol and ammunitions, the sources said. As per available inputs, the cadre is a close associate of self-styled majors Victor Tangkhul and Athot Tangkhul of the outfit and was involved in various extortion activities.

The joint team of security forces was proactively involved in convincing the cadre to join the mainstream, the sources said. In the last one year, more than 50 insurgents have shunned various insurgent groups and joined the mainstream giving a big blow to the underground outfits active in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts.
