NSCN rebels apprehended in Arunachal Pradesh

Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended three cadres of various factions of the NSCN during joint operations

ITANAGAR: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended three cadres of various factions of the NSCN during joint operations in Changlang district during the last couple of days, police said on Friday.

A joint team of Changlang police, 9 Assam Rifles and 149 Bn of CRPF during an operation on Thursday, apprehended one self-styled Second Lieutenant of NSCN-R.

The cadre, identified as Nankan Hacheng Chengsing (22), was apprehended from New Sallang Village in the district, the sources said.

In another operation on Thursday, one self-styled Pvt Johnsam Tikhak (24), was also apprehended from general area of Namgoi by joint team of district police, 19 Assam Rifles and 171 Bn of CRPF. The apprehended rebel is from the NSCN-K (YA), police said.

Earlier on August 15, security forces apprehended a self-styled Sergeant Major of the NSCN-K (YA) from general area of New Sallang by personnel of 9 AR and district police. The apprehended cadre has been identified as Alem Konyak (26).

Three cases have been registered against the apprehended rebels under relevant sections of laws at Changlang and Nampong police stations, the sources added.
