PALIN: Minister for Agriculture & Horticulture Tage Taki has appealed to all sections of society to opt for agriculture, horticulture and allied activities for economic sustainability. Taki said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 28-day Nyokum festival celebration at general ground near here on Tuesday.

Taki said that not everyone can become government servants. Therefore, someone has to become a businessman or go for farming and cultivation activities for sustaining livelihood. He said the State and the people should be self-sufficient with every agricultural and horticultural need, and if needed, should also export to other States. He also announced plans to build a state-of-the-art Piggery and Dairy Development at Palin. MLA and Advisor to Environment & Forest Minister Kumsi Sidisaw, while attending the function as guest of honour, motivated the gathering for preservation of the age-old cultural heritage and traditional values of tribal society.

Earlier, the festival celebration committee executive members informed that several games and sports will be played along with cultural programmes.
