Organizations discuss drug problems, illicit trafficking in Arunachal

ITANAGAR: The Kombo Pomte Elite Group (KPEG), in collaboration with PR leaders and the West Siang-based NGO Mother's Vision, organised a mass discussion event to address drug problems and illicit trafficking. Resource persons, West Siang ICDS deputy director Bahi Koyu, Mother's Vision chairperson Jumde Gamlin, and Yomcha zilla parishad member Jumde Gamlin, sensitised the people on the drug menace. Koyu suggested ways for parents to practise proper parenting, while Gamlin shared data on drug addiction problems among youth in the district. Gamlin warned people to be aware of the possibility of contracting and spreading HIV/AIDS through the sharing of needles used by drug addicts. Members of the KPEG pledged to adopt preventive measures and assured to study the cause and effect of the drug menace and table a report within 8 to 9 months, according to an official release.
