Organizations to hold mega blood donation camp for violence-hit Manipur

The Manipur Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh (MWSAP) and Arunachal Life Saving Foundation announced on Saturday that they would organize a three-day mega blood donation camp for the people of violence-hit Manipur.

ITANAGAR: The Manipur Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh (MWSAP) and Arunachal Life Saving Foundation announced on Saturday that they would organize a three-day mega blood donation camp for the people of violence-hit Manipur. The blood donation camp would be organized from August 8 to 10 next, in collaboration with the state health department and Ramakrishna Mission Hospital (RKMH) here, Arunachal Life Saving Foundation (ALSF) chairman Ramesh Jeke told reporters at the Press Club here. "Blood is a requirement during such war or violence; therefore, to fill in the requirements, the two organizations have decided to conduct a mega blood donation camp for the needy people in Manipur," he said.

The purpose of conducting the mega blood donation camp is to extend support in treating those injured persons affected by the violence in Manipur, Jeke disclosed, adding that it will send a message of ‘brotherhood and oneness among the seven sister states. "Your one unit of blood will bring a smile to a family in Manipur who are victims of the violence," said Jeke, while appealing to all to extend a helping hand by participating in the camp. He informed that the blood collected in the camp will be transported to Manipur, for which the organizations will be requesting the governor and the state government for easy and fast transportation to the violence-hit state.

The organizers also disclosed that they will invite the governor to inaugurate the camp. Jeke said that they have informed chief minister Pema Khandu about the camp through his advisor, Tai Tagak, who assured to provide all necessary assistance from the state government for the conduct of the camp and transportation of blood units to Manipur. Meanwhile, MWSAP president L. Sokun Singh informed that Manipur observes August 13 as ‘patriotic day’ by organizing a blood donation programme every year. But this year the donation programme will be for three days, particularly for the people of Manipur. He appealed to all the people to be a part of the camp.
