ITANAGAR: Taking a dig at BJP Lok Sabha member from Arunachal East Parliamentary Constituency Tapir Gao, for criticizing the Congress for not developing Arunachal Pradesh, North-East Congress Coordination Committee general secretary Padi Richo has asked as to what package the present Modi Government has given to the State during last six years.

Gao on Monday citicised the Congress in the Lok Sabha while discussing the Ladakh stalemate.

How can Gao deny that the Manmohan Singh Government had sanctioned Rs 24,000 crore package in 2008 for constructing the Trans-Arunachal Highway and nine Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs) to improve land-and-air connectivity of this land-locked State? questioned Richo.

Claiming that present three MPs – Kiren Rijiju (Union Minister of Sports), Tapir Gao (Lok Sabha) and Nabam Rebia (Rajya Sabha), are products of Congress, Richo also said that Rijiju had served as adviser to former Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, Gao was NSUI and youth Congress president while Rebia was Minister, Speaker and nominated to the Rajya Sabha twice earlier.

If records are any indication, Chowkhaman Gohain was made Lok Sabha member, while Daying Ering was first from NE India to be inducted into the Nehru Cabinet as a Deputy Minister while it was Congrress which has granted the Union Territory status to NEFA in 1972 renamed as Arunachal Pradesh followed by Statehood in 1987.

The State during 1950 to 2013, during the Congress rule, witnessed multifarious development, particularly in Education and Health sectors, the State capital was set up at Itanagar and many district headquarters came up to make administration reach the doorsteps of the people which is known to all, Richo said, and wanted to know if the BJP could claim any achievement since 2013 to 2020.

Richo added that the BJP leaders, especially those nourished by the Congress, should recall their past and fight with China for whimsically claiming the State's territory as 'South Tibet' instead of fighting the Congress in the larger interest of the State.
