ITANAGAR: The People's Party of Arunachal (PPA), the lone regional outfit of the state on Wednesday castigated the state government for not taking any action against the power developers in the state who failed to commission various power projects despite lapses of deadline as mentioned in the memorandums of agreements (MoAs).

PPA Secretary General Kaling Jerang in a statement here demanded the government to go for a fresh review of the present status of various power projects in the state.

"Out of the total MoUs and MoAs signed against 142 power projects, not a single project has started yet in total disregard of the terms and conditions on the date of start, date of completion and the date of commissioning. The deadlines have already exceeded for many years but there has been no follow up action plans from the government," the party said.

The PPA further alleged that the state government collected huge revenues in terms of "upfront money" from the various power developers during the singing of the agreements.

"It is learnt that in spite of various informations sought through RTIs, the government has yet to give the details on the whereabouts of Rs 1400 crore collected as 'upfront money'. Various organizations have taken up the issues but there has been no sincere feedback from the government," the party alleged.
