ITANAGAR: The capital police, on the hunt for one Tulsi Biskarma (20), who had allegedly raped a minor, arrested the accused after 3 hours of intensive searches on the basis of human, technical, and social media surveillance. Following the arrest and the legal procedures, the alleged accused has been forwarded to the Women's Police Station (WPS) for further action. A case vide WPS Itanagar case No. 63/23 U/S 376 IPC, R/W Section 4 of the POCSO Act, has been registered accordingly.
SDPO-Balijan, Maga Tago, informed the police that verbal information was received by the police from one Nabam Taning about his adopted daughter (13) being raped by a person on June 20. He said that according to the statement, the accused raped the minor at Hollongi Bridge inside one silver-coloured car. Also, as per the statement of the victim, the accused called her and asked her to meet him at Hollongi. Subsequently, the victim agreed to meet in good faith. "The alleged accused picked up the girl from the Hollongi gate and took her to Hollongi Bridge in a car. After some time, the alleged accused forcefully raped her inside the car. And after raping, the alleged accused dropped her near Hollongi gate and fled away," he said, adding that the accused later switched off his phone.
According to the victim, she befriended the unknown person in the month of May 2023 over the phone and had never met him before. Following the statement from the victim, a special team consisting of SI M. Hussain, In Charge of Hollongi Gate, under the close supervision of SP Papumpare and Dr. Neelam Nega, was constituted. "After 3 hours of intensive searches on the basis of human, technical, and social media surveillance, the alleged accused was arrested. The accused is a permanent resident of Gohpur, District Sonitpur, Assam, and presently resides at AT Car Service Chimpu near here," he added.
