Rajiv Gandhi University students visit NEHU and NERIE

ITANAGAR: As many as one hundred students of Bed fourth semester from Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), along with assistant professors Dr Prasanta Kumar Barik, Dr Nisanth P M, and Dr Tage Monju Burman, recently visited the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and the North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) as part of their academic curriculum.

The visit was aimed at providing the students with an opportunity to learn about the education system in the Northeast region and to gain practical knowledge on teaching techniques, research, and experimentation. The study tour lasted three days and included visits to various departments and centres at NEHU and NERIE.

The students also interacted with faculty members and other students and participated in interactive programmes on innovative teaching techniques, curriculum design, and classroom management. During their visit to NEHU, the students had the opportunity to learn about the university’s diverse academic programmes, research activities, and outreach programmes. They also visited the university’s library, known for its vast collection of books, journals, and research papers.

At NERIE, the students attended lectures on the unique challenges faced by the education system in NCERT and how the institute is working towards addressing them. They also had the opportunity to visit the institute’s audio-visual studio, which showcases the rich knowledge transactions of the region. The B.Ed. students also benefited from a presentation by Professor N. Pradhan, Head of the Education Department, on the “Scenario of Teacher Education in India and Teacher Education in RIEs of NCERT”.

Speaking about the study tour, the faculty members accompanying the students expressed their satisfaction with the visit and said it was an enriching experience. They also added that the visit to NEHU and NERIE has broadened their horizons and provided them with a unique perspective on the education system in the Northeast region.
