Rajnath Singh on Stock Taking Visit to Indo-China Border; Reviews Defence Preparedness

Defence minister Rajnath Singh reviewed infrastructure development along the Indo-China border. Singh interacted with army jawans at the Dinjan Camp in Dibrugarh.

DIBRUGARH: Defence minister Rajnath Singh took stock of the ongoing infrastructure development along the Indo-China border with senior army officers in Dibrugarh on Wednesday.

According to an official statement, during his three days visit to the northeastern region, Singh reviewed the operational readiness of the formation in the easternmost part of the country.

He was briefed on infrastructure development along the line of control as well as capability development & operational preparedness by General Officer Commanding, 3 Corps Lieutenant General RC Tiwari and other senior officers.

The defence minister was also briefed on the employment of cutting-edge military equipment & technology to enhance the operational efficiency of the troops deployed on the frontline.

He commended the stellar work and yeoman services being rendered by all ranks of Spear Corps under challenging conditions.

Singh also interacted with Army jawans and heard them singing the iconic "Sandese Aate Hain" song of the Bollywood movie "Border". The defence minister lauded their talents and appreciated their efforts and sacrifice for the nation.

Singh is visiting forward posts on Thursday to make on-ground assessments of the operational preparedness and interact with troops.

He is further interacting with members of the second religious expedition to Athu Popu, an annual trek of the local Idu Mishmi tribe which is being facilitated by the Army since 2021 as part of the outreach and continued efforts towards supporting the locals & development of tourism.

He reviewed infrastructure projects of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) during his three-day visit to the North East.

The country claimed to have built 2,000 kilometres of all-weather roads along its disputed Indo-China border over the past five years. According to the government, 2,088.57 kilometers of all-weather roads have been built in the last 5 years.

According to government records, Arunachal Pradesh shares a 1,080-km-long international boundary with China.

East Kameng, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, Upper Subansiri, Shi-Yomi, Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Dibang Valley share borders with Tibet.
